Even though i got accepted to a university, i think i may be opting for the community college transfer system so i could be closer to home. when i do get transfered [and i'm sure i will since a program makes it guaranteed], is that when i begin taking the classes i need for Pharmacy school? or can i take it in CC too?

in addition, is it better to just go straight to university, or do the community college + university way? do they consider this when looking at my application for Pharm school.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

What pharmacy school are you considering?

Some colleges of pharmacy admit students directly from HS. The students must attend two years of classes in the university and then can move directly into the college of pharmacy. Other pharmacy colleges you must attend two years of university and then can apply and be admitted to pharmacy. Other schools you must complete a BS before attending the pharmacy school. In all cases there are some very specific courses you must take, probably including biochem, general chem and organic chem, as well as biology and an advanced math course such as advanced algebra or calculus. Most schools these days require you to take the PCAT - like the SATs only harder.

You must look at the details for the college of pharmacy where you intend to study. Admission to pharmacy school is getting extremely competitive. It is almost as tough as med school. So you need the best preparation you can get.

Please do not go that route i gurantee that you will be stuck studying for 8 years instead of 6. It's long enough, trust me. Many pharm schools no longer accept other credits ESPECIALLY for science courses. There are many facets why.. when you get to the upper levels of chem for instance you may be behind. If you want to get your lit courses and electives out of the way i suggest doing these over the summers and just focus on your sciences in the regular semesters, however, there are very strict gpa standards in pharmacy schools my old school was no lower than a 2.5 and they keep changing it to be higher. please go straight to pharmacy school do not pass community college and you'll be done before you can say Hydrocholrothiazide...

It is very hard for pure, traditional community college students to be directly accepted into pharmacy. To make yourself competitive, you almost need a bachelors.
My pharmacy school, like many others, is biased against community college students.

It appears like you may. save in concepts you may be taking diverse technological awareness classes at as quickly because that is incredibly time ingesting and not ordinary. you may opt for to seem into any sequencing criteria which could impression your type timing (i.e. won't be able to take physics till after calculus, won't be able to take organic and organic chem till after gen chem). also, no longer all instructions are presented each semester so be efficient to seem ahead to make efficient you do not plan on taking some thing interior the fall that is purely presented interior the spring. solid success!
