I ask this because; it seems that some are so adamant against him. Can he sing? Can he perform? Yes, is he the best singer or performer, NO, not now. But think of the stars of the world; Elvis, Beatles, Roy Orbison and so many others. When they started did they have a drop dead great voice, probably not? They had something, that something that you wanted to drop back by and see what they were doing; how they were growing...I guess cheespa, attraction to a force. I'm in my 60's and therefore cannot be a young Sanjaya groupie, I just see a little something in him that if left to the end of the show he could develop, come out of his well insulated fear shell. I don't see the same in Phil, Lakisha, Stephanie. I see that same spark in Ms. Doolittle, Blake and a few others. Don't we want the hidden X-Talent as well as a strong voice? Don't you think if we let a few of the weaker (now) singers hang around they may develop.

I can see where you coming from......if only more people would think along those lines the world would be a better place.........but the reality is that people just need an excuse to b%Tch about something or the other.............first it was that Antonella girl being blasted for those pics of hers and now we got rid of her so who's next *SANJAYA* people just like to feed off negativity thts just human nature I guess.........all I can say is atleast he's out there trying what are you all doing?

I understand you wanting to support him - especially with all the recent Sanjaya bashing that's going around.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about music choices... and while you may think that Sanjaya is great, I tend to disagree.
I think he is a sweet kid that does have an ear for music. But he's young. I don't think he really knows who he is yet and I think that comes through as a lack of confidence in his performances. I would love to have a boy like Sanjaya in my HS choir. He would be a great leader with his voice. But I think that's where his talent stops for now.
In a few years I'm sure he'll discover who he is and become more comfortable with himself. And that will greatly help his perfomance and singing skills.
As I respect your opinion... I don't think that Sanjaya should be put in the same class of musical talent as people like Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, Blake or Chris. These 5 people have real musical ability, wonderful control of their voice and range and good stage presence.
I believe that last night was a desperate plea to let him go home. He said in his clip that he knows he's not the best singer, but that he'd go out there and have fun and do the best he could. I think in his heart he knows that he's an outcast among this crowd. And that the only reason he's there is because of the sympathy (votefortheworst) and teeny-bopper (and apparently, people like you) vote. He knows that he should be the next going home... but he's going to soak up the starlight and have fun until he does.

Why are folks so harsh with Sanjaya Malakar's abilities? Because he has NO ABILITIES!!! he can NOT sing, can NOT dance, can not ACT, cant do anything but stand on stage and look goofy with that stupid ugly smile on his face! he should have never made it at the auditions! he should have been sent home and never made it to Hollywood! If he is the next American Idol then America is in trouble! HE SUCKS!!! Literally!

i'm sorry i must be watching a different show because i haven't seen sanjaya exhibit any abilities that would keep him on the show. he can't sing and he is only still around because he is cute and little girls like to see him. he is a horrible singer no matter how much you compare him to other people.

All I have to say is that he needs a new look, a new vocal coach, and a little bit of experience. Life experience, not American Idol.

I thought his sister sang better, and she was booted early before the finals.

i don't think he can sing or perform and i'm sick of his cheesy lame-***, "i think I'm cute" little smile. I hope he gets booted soon...can't stand much more of him. All i can say is thank goodness for TiVo.

while i agree that i'm not strong on him, he can sing. i would like to hear him in five years, when he's in his early 20's. i think a little life, a little experience will do him some good.
