I've got design specs to build a pirate ship out of refrigerator boxes, but they don't include a ship's wheel. Any ideas? I am thinking of attaching an old bicycle wheel to a PVC-pipe that would be stuck into an upside-down flower pot (for the base), but how to make it NOT look like a bicycle wheel? Or, any other ideas for making a ship's wheel that will really turn...

You could poke holes in the tire and run old wooden jumprope handles out through. Or buy thick dowels and turn them so they look like handles. Then make a cardboard or fabric sheaf with holes in it to fit over the whole thing to hide the chrome.

They sell them at U-Haul stores, Fed Ex and UPS stores, and Home Depot. You can ship in any box. I am an eBay seller and I have never bought a box for shipping. I use old boxes that I had from other things. Just put a big shipping label on the top and cover it with clear tape so it won't get torn during shipment.
