Why do ppl think that what is going on in our politics and government are not important???

I think it's because most of the things going on right now don't directly affect people's everyday lives (at least not in an obvious way). They see the news about Iraq and Iran and they think "Boy, I'm glad I'm not over there. Sucks to be those guys." I think if they re-instated the draft you'd see a lot more people that cared because it'd be their a$$es being shipped off to the middle east.

Most of the people I have talked to lately express an opinion on political matters, uninvited by me. The average Joe may not vote as often as they can or get involved in politics because they feel there is not anything they can really do about it.

I agree that one person cannot make a difference, but if enough of us get fed up enough, things will start to slowly change.

They have lives and feeding the kids and making the payments takes a lot of ones time. In order to keep up with our government and sort truth from fiction takes a bit of time and effort.

I think many people have given up on Politicians because they say one thing and do another and in the end we pay more taxes and no problems get resolved. the different parties are so busy pointing out the other parties mistakes they do not have the time to come up with solutions

People either don't care, or think they are helpless to change anything so they don't bother.
