I have known I've should be going to a local High school streets away from my house. Recently, I applied and got accepted to a completely different high school in
another district of town. From my knowledge, I will be getting a better education with more choices and freedom with projects. I only know 15 people including teachers and students. If I went to my local HS, I would know 100+ students. I'm wondering if I have made the correct choice in regards to friends, and education.

School isn't about how many people you know. If you took the trouble to accepted into a school farther away, you hopefully had good reasons to believe you'd get a better education there.

The only drawback I know as a teacher, is that many students who live far away from school have transportation issues. They're sometimes constantly late to school or they want to leave right after school and don't attend any after school activities.

You know which type of person you are, and if those two aren't going to be a problem for you, then you made the right decision.

I'm sure that within a month, you'll know just as many people at your new school as your neighborhood one.

Although it doesn't help you in the here and now, having friends in high school really doesn't mean a whole lot in the long run. You'll be lucky if you can remember 15 people from high school, let alone remain friends with half of them. If transferring means more choices and a better education, jump at it with no regrets. We're living in a global market, and Americans need all the help they can get. Best wishes!

School isnt about how many people know your name, its about education. You go there to learn, not be popular.
