When he says "The space between what right and wrong is where I'll be hiding, waiting for you." "The space between your heart and mine is a space we'll fill with time."

To me it suggests that the bands' view on certain illegal activities (ex: Jimmi Thing) can only benefit society over time and that people who engage in these activities are usually the ones who find the little special moments of love, compassion and other benevolent moments in life. Ultimately, I feel that it is a direct challenge for us to look into our hearts, find the love inside us, and move towards making the world a better place, irregardless of what society feels about certain peaceful activities. Why else would he be hiding between what is right and wrong? As far as I know he isn't a "bad" person by any means except for the above-mentioned. Any other takes? Please focus on the song's ending in your response. Thanks and peace!

No, I think Dave is suggesting that no matter what he and the girl he's singing to (it's a love song) go through, the right and wrong they might do to each other and in the relationship over time, he will still be there for her.
I think the "soace between [his] heart and [hers]..." is referring to the emotional bond they share, and love - it's not a physical attachment they share. As time goes on, their love (the space between) will grow, and be folled with more love, memories, etc.

That Dave Matthews pretty interesting Guy....The message has nothing to do with social twists and all kind of activity within...nothing. Conciousness does not know right and wrong, does not know a duality It is that Spirit which we call Holy and it is that who we truly are...That Spirit is a space in between objects and animates objects give it life.Well objects exist only in a mind nowhere else..Since we identify ourselves with objects we become an objects...We left space in between when curiosity took over and hunger for knowledge initiated by fruit of a tree of knowledge placed us within mind. The call to be back to whom we really belong to would be essence of a message...but of course, interpretations would be made of any kind...as you believe so be it...Bible?

That song is a love song to me, so I think he's saying it will just take time for their hearts to be together.
Maybe you're over thinking the song, but that's your call.
P.S. There is NO such word as "irregardless"!! -Just say "regarding" or "regardless", whichever you mean.
