I just started this job a month ago about how long should I wait to call in for my first time.

You mean call in sick?

Some companies give sick days that accrue with time as do vacation days.

I've worked contractually the last few years, so I don't get paid for a sick day.

Nevertheless, if you're really sick, don't go into work. You co-workers would probably appreciate you not making them sick if you're contagious.

usually after your 90 day PROBATION period. Unless you are calling in "dead", of course. It doesn't look good on your part to call in so soon after being hired.

the first time you are really sick, or 6 months.

Until you are sick and really need to call in! Obviously you weren't hired for your work ethic.....
