I am too embarrassed to ask someone I know so I figured I would ask here. For example whenever I text the letter "h", the letter "i" shows up with it, like it is programmed to spell "hi." I cannot figure out how to get the letter "h" by itself. There are other letters that do the same thing.

That is because your phone is set to T9. It is a program that literally stands for 'text on 9 keys'. It was designed to make texting on a numerical pad easier. It actually guesses what word you want by the order in which you type letters (on the number pad). Somewhere on your phone, it is probably an option on the screen you write the message, to choose alphabet. Using that it will type what letter you want and that's it. Like you have to hit 2 three times to get C or 4 two times to get H. Check out the site below, you can even practice. Good luck.

Well there is a dictionary software embedded in every mobile it has some default words set in it. For instance if you want friend then you need to type 374363. Well if the desired word doesn't pop up then press the * or # (as the button is different in every brand of mobile) button on keypad to select the words if it is not there you can spell the word. If you want to disable the dictionary and do the manual typing the either press * or # or go to message settings or read the mobile manual how to enable or disable it.

I'm not sure what phone you have but you need to adjust the the form of type it produces. usually there is a icon ( a pencil ) or the letters ABC that indicate the form it is currently in. To adjust go to your message options or setup to adjust it to the form that will produce one letter at a time. If this does not work refer to your booklet or call your service provider.

Your phone is probably set to the T9 function. Change the setting to alphabet so you can write one letter at a time.

You are probably using a LG phone (press on the right soft button) when you are typing and instead of being (t9word) select (abc)
