AMD is keeping Intel honest with prices, they are the only thing between us and a expensive monopoly. BUY AMD, and keep Intel honest. It will save us lots of money down the road. If only there was an alternative for Microsoft!

in all probability the middle 2 a million.5 would be exceptionally on the factor of the Turion a million.9 because of the fact the middle 2 can do extra artwork in step with cycle than the Turion (and the middle 2 might additionally be slightly quicker). The center 2 Duo supply you extra perfect battery existence regardless of the undeniable fact that (assuming the different factors do no longer use extra skill and the two desktops have the comparable length battery). the single with the Intel processor has an greater difficult rigidity that's a sturdy ingredient and a fingerprint reader whilst the AMD would not seem to have one (i've got got here across a fingerprint reader to be severe high quality to have regardless of the undeniable fact that i would not make certain based fullyyt on that factor). the huge difficulty i might say could be what pictures each and each of them has, if the single with the middle 2 has Intel pictures it heavily is not any sturdy for gaming (and if it would not have Intel pictures it is going to likely be) yet with AMD systems you will possibly prefer to be plenty extra careful on condition that lots of the nVidia and aTi chips that go into AMD laptops are even worse than Intel pictures (and that's many times the cheapies that have the undesirable ones). From what i will tell determination a million could be the two Intel built-in crap (regardless of the undeniable fact that the X3100 is the least worst Intel pictures chip ever) or a GeForce 8400 that's a sturdy chip. the 2d seems to have an previous GeForce 6200 (regardless of the undeniable fact which you ought to examine) that's slightly dated now and a google seek indicated numerous people unhappy with that distinctive sort. As for Vista, whilst that's crap and could be prevented if in any respect achievable you in all probability won't get too plenty determination in the priority.

Analogy :
What's better ... Pontiac or Chevrolet ?
What's the difference between the two ?
The logic displayed in some of these answers is that since Chevrolet (Intel) makes the fastest car (the Corvette) it must be better than Pontiac (AMD) ..... total nonsense.
Unless you are shopping for the fastest desktop CPU on the market ( which Intel happens to make ..."right now" ) there is no compelling reason to buy Intel over AMD.
I own both & support PCs with both in a business environment.
They are equally reliable.... I've yet to encounter issues with either one that are indigenous to the brand.
Best advice I can offer is to look at the whole package.
Any PC with an AMD 4600+ or an Intel E6400 or higher (these 2 CPUs are pretty much neck in neck) will likely provide you with more power than you need....as well as give you years of trouble free performance.
I have a strong personal preference for AMD because it gives much more for the money,
I challenge anyone to provide "reliable" (not forum chit chat) documentation that proves that AMD has compatability issues with any mainstrean software.
Many Fortune 500 companies use both processors in their workstations & servers. They would not invest in inferior products.

The AMD/Intel debate is not new. Everyone has an opinion and a preference.
Both are exceptionally good processors. The differences are how they interface to the balance of the computer; i.e. I/O processes, memory, etc.
Benchmark testing (available on lots of sites - try www.cpuscorecard.com just for starters) can give you the A:B comparison but typically show one does some things better while the other excels elsewhere.
Take your pick. For what most people do with computers you should be just fine.

AMD is better for gaming
Intel is better at multitasking.....

Update: Just because you own an intel and AMD does not make you an expert, nor does using a car as an analogy....We arent talking about theory or a debate, we are talking about something that can be measured, "performance".
It depends on the benchmark program being used, some use graphics to determine the processor score, those types of benchmars will clearly show an AMD winning over Intel......Just look on the internet.....and leave philosophy to the experts.....

Intel Core2Duo is the worlds fastest desktop cpu, it is much faster than the AMD Athlon X2, although the AMD is cheaper, it is cheaper because it is not as good. There are several differences between the two CPU's, the intel cpu uses more L2 cache (upto 8mb depending on the model whereas the AMD has upto 2mb), L2 cache is like RAM on the chip, it is built into the cpu so the cpu can access data faster, the AMD cpu's interact with the RAM faster than an Intel CPU becuase the memory controller for the RAM is built into AMD cpu's whereas it is built into the motherboard on an intel cpu, this means AMD cpu's can acess the RAM faster. Overall the core2duo offers up twice the performance of an Athlon X2, but also costs more. Personally i prefer using intel cpu's as i find that they are more reliable and last longer than AMD cpu's altho the new AMD cpu's are just as reliable as intel ones.

I would go with intel core 2 duo all the way in term of performance. However I would go with AMD x2 for better price.

I prefer the C2D (and I own both)
Even at stock clock speeds it outperforms an AMD imo.
I got a core 2 duo 2.4GHz (conroe) @ 3.6GHz on water, beat that!
