My rover Metro's suspension broke and every garage is refusing to fix it...Why? I've only had my car for 2 months! Should I just get rid of it?

the parts are probably more than the car is worth. save your money and put it towards a new car .

Hi

If your car has still got the hydrolastic suspension then you need to take it to a garage that is equipped to fix it. They need to use a special pump to fill the suspension with the hydrolastic fluid, and this could be why the garages are refusing to fix it.....because they are not equipped.

Cheers

Well Metro's are a very old car you know, they were also quite complicated in their construction, perhaps the garages can't justify the expense of you getting it repaired. By the way many Metros could only use four star petrol, because of the aluminium cylinder head! very old technology, best get rid!

Why don't you ask the garge why they won't fix it?? It may be possible that they don't have the parts or are unable to get parts. Why don't you try contacting a garage that does repair Rover models. They are out there!!

more info needed is it cast iron or alloy eng A or K series. is it rear arms. struts. displacers. balance pipes. if hyd/lastic it's only water with alcohol and inhibiter added to prevent freezing and rust. most older garages have these pumps. the K 8 eng is japanese designed to run on unleaded. cast iron A series had hardened valve seats to enable running on lead free.
