My dog attacked my hamster. The hamster was crawling on the coffee table and my dog almost ate the hamster. When we got the hamster out of his mouth, the hamster fell to the ground. I think he sprained his back paw and the dog pierced the hamster. The hamster also looked like he was really bloated, his tummy was full of air, when the dog bite him I could finally see how skinny he was. The little guy is still eating, and I think he is drinking, but he is having really labored breathing. He is about 2 1/2 years old so I know he is old. I was just thinking of putting him to sleep and I didn't think he would make it through the night but he is still alive. I dont want to pick him up, cause I dont want to hurt him, but his breathing slows down when I was holding him in a towel last night. To put him to sleep would cost about $25.00- $30.00 but that would be best for him. What do you think?

I've raised many hamsters. He is still moving, When we got home from the vet I put him and the towel the in cage and he moved off of the towel to the other side of his cage, then we put his house on top of him hoping that the would be comfortable and pass away but he moved from under that to the other side of the cage and thats where he is at now. He's been there since last night. I know they don't live very long and he really is getting old. He isn't walking around anymore not running on his wheel. So he is acting the same.

Im shocked that you had your hamster out of his cage when your dog was in the same room as him, it really is an irrisponsible thing to do. Although your hamster is very old, I dont think that is whats going to end his little life, I think the sheer shock of what happened to him will be the death of him. I erge you to get the poor little thing back to the vets. I cant imagine the fear it went through.

I'm sorry to say but I think that might be it for your hamster. Hamster's don't usually live very long either. If he is having trouble breathing he may be in trouble. Use your judgement. Can he still move around? Is he active? Does he look like he is in pain? I think it's literally up to you. Good luck. Best wishes for you and your hamster.

my hamster obtained a wound and is flawlessly first-class. But she did not chew at it. I could imediatly get her to quit. Try hanging extra treats, and allot extra matters to do, so she does not lose interest and nip at it. make the cage adventurous, and all she's going to do is have amusing, and now not fear approximately the scab. It might final a whilst, my hamster nonetheless has hers, however difference the obstical journey cage round each and every few days, so it may not get dull. I particularly wish your hamster will get larger:-D Hope i helped:D

If you're going to put the hamster to sleep, you're going to have to take it to a vet. Ask the vet to give the hamster a quick exam, and see if it is possible that the hamster will be able to recover from its injuries. From your description, it would likely be most humane to put the hamster to sleep. I'm sorry.
