I like the name Brooke as a first name... it's unusual without trying too hard. I also like 'Emily Brooke'--a name with too many hard sounds tends to sound harsh and unpleasant when spoken.

All these names are a bit overused and sound like little girl names. She should consider what her GROWN daughter will think of her name, too.

Many modern names lack the solidity of a long history of use (at least several generations worth). When I was in college in the 1980's, we had three girls named Katie just on our dorm floor! Also, names like Brooke and Kaitlin are excessively overused. Katie is a nickname, not a full name. Don't shortchange your daughter!

Of the three, I would choose Emily Ann if I HAD to choose from these three. The spelling "Anne" looks more finished. Unfortunately, there are more Emilys in the elementary schools right now than any teacher can keep straight!

Rene is a French masculine name. The feminine form is Renee. Don't give a girl a boy's name. It's not cute or original or clever and it makes the parents look not so smart while it is another excuse to be teased by children with no manners.

There are many meaningful, beautiful names out there! Instead of Emily, try Elyse. For Kristin and Kate, try Catherine or Caroline or Colette.

Don't be afraid of giving a child a name you may think too "old" for her! Babies grow up and grown women appreciate grown-up names.

Emily Ann or Katie Rene. Kristin Brooke doesn't seem to flow as well to me.

If I have to pick from those three unfortunate choices I'd go with the first. I personally don't like super common names, but that's me... I like to be a little different, unique. I didn't want my daughters having 3,4, or 5 other girls in their classrooms with the same name.

I absolutely hate the name Katie.

My suggestions: Morgan, Dylan, Mckenna, Rayna, Brooklynn

I like Kristen Brooke of those three the best. It seems more original than the other two. Maybe Kirsten or some other variation of kristin. I'm more into names that are not that common.
