Remember, the Democrats are not in power because of Rahm Emanuel's godlike powers of fundraising, regardless of what you might hear in the media. The Democrats are in power because they promised to end the Iraq war.
And yet this is how they treat their colleagues who are actually proposing to do that. Does this bode well for American democracy?

ok sociald, they were voting against Republican candidates...who pledged NOT to end the Iraq war.
Ultimately, it is the same thing.

cvq, the country at large wants the war to end now. That is why the Democrats are in power.

I think that democrats lied to get in office and really don't care about ending the war.
Gee, what an incredible surprise!

so the Democrats with a brain and a sense of reality don't want to give in to the ones with no brain and that are living in a land of fantasy? wow... surprise.
I may not like a lot of liberal politics but I never accused most democrats of being stupid, although I freely admit after the election I had hoped they would be.
the ones with any sense of reality know it is not a matter of walking away, that is political suicide, it's just like why they have not impeached bush, they would drive a wedge so far in to their moderate support base they would never win office in 08.
See they also understand politics enough to know that succumbing the the far left fringe is going to sap support from middle America. Now I take it your a city boy and don't take much stock in "Simple country folk" but the fact is, it is those people who vote, not just run around with signs screaming slogans.
You want to keep that support, the republicans learned that lesson with Clinton and changed tactics. and it won them the presidency with bush twice!
The only person who should be mad that the Dem's haven't pulled out of Iraq is me... I have a bet going and if they run, I know they will lose in 08. it is a political fact. and the longer the Dem's stay with the fight the increase in their odds to win.
you want the presidency in 08? move to the center and quit honoring the far left.

There is one fundamental mistake in assumption longhair. That you say the Democrats are in power because they promised to end the war.
I contend it wasnt people voting 'for' democratic candidates it was people voting against republican candidates.
And when you do that you get just what your describing.

The Democrats are in power because of Foley, Abramoff and Macaca and to a lesser extent because they promised to end the war.

Both parties have to satisfy their respective bases and also reach out to the country at large.
It's not an easy task for either party.

True, if not for the Jewish communities ability to raise money for the Democrats, where would the Democrat party be?
Please give proper respect to the people who financially save your party, time and again, Democrats.
Is this why Jimmy Carter said he would "f*** the Jews if re-elected", when they withheld thier financial support and instead gave it to Reagan?
/flexes political muscle.

Maybe some good patriotic Americans don't want to surrender to Al Qaeda and declare defeat.
Al Qaeda wants what you want... to see America run away from Iraq.
