It goes against their core ideology.
Conservatives value conformity and stability. So a benevolent imperial government can satisfy those concerns.
Liberals value individuality and flexibility. And empire usually doesn't allow those kinds of activities.

Liberals want to liberate other peoples for their support, not force them to play ball. The Republicans have never made one deal the whole time George Bush has been President and this has caused all of the conflict. The best part of Donald Trumps true interview was that he said Condi only knows how to wave at the other Countries, coming and going. Condi never makes any deal, and neither does Bush. Dictators don't get support whether your a GOP Dictator or Saddam himself.

Because we actually have feelings & care about those
who are suffering the effects of this "Imperialism".
Now, a small town in California has more for "for sale"
signs from foreclosures than it does street signs.
If there isn't a scandal in DC, people are losing their
homes & jobs.
The consequences of this administration get more
disturbing every day.

Even if it wasn't against our core values, and wasn't a primitive 19th Centurt construct, wasn't the whole concept of imperialism all about booty and plunder?
Instead we seem to be going deeper and deeper and deeper in debt with this Iraq thing. Where's the lucre?

Because liberals have some funny ideas, like freedom and self determination, human equality and individual civil rights.

Alexander didn't do a good job either, Persia is now Iran.
I wonder if he declared "Mission Accomplished" also?

Why can't liberals understand basic government responsibilities like ensuring we have enough energy to sustain ourselves and our position in the world?
Why don't liberals understand that it is a presidents RESPONSIBILITY to protect this nation at all reasonable cost?
Why do liberals believe homosexuals getting married is more important than defeating the radical IslamaFacists that want to kill us all (including the gays...in fact, they'll go first!)
If you could show a single REAL example of 'imperialism' - a word you should look up as you obviously do not comprehend its meaning - it would add a modicum of legitimacy to your premise.
As it is, your premise is vacuous and intellectually hollow.

I take it you're referring to our current situation in Iraq? I don't see how that could be possible, considering we haven't pillaged any riches, while at the same time set up free elections for the people.

You're right that imperialism has always happened, but that doesn't mean we all think it's right. Murder, violence and injustice have always happened, too, but I don't enjoy them, either.

Then why are we buying oil from Saudi Arabia instead of invading them and just taking it?
Why not just take Iraqi oil? It sure would help gas prices!
I guess your question has no validity whatsoever.
So sad.
