Call a doctor. Could be a sign of a infection. Doesnt hurt to CALL
UM Nancy. People lose their mucus plugs, sometimes weeks before going into labor. So you can see it
To other poster. Please do not claim people DO not know the facts. I have a child and one on the way. Green is NOT always a good sign. If it is dark or bright it can be a problem. This was from a doctor

Please read more about this before you freak out - I would CALL your obgyn though just to get his/her recommendation on what they would like for you to do. They will prob ask you a lot of odd gross questions about the discharge... so make sure you can be as descriptive as possible
With 3 of my pregnancies have I "lost " and "found" my plug one time it was more like a clearish snot blob - sorry if that sounds gross - but we are talking mucous here. and that was about a week before the baby came - Dr said all was fine.
one of the others was brownish and was 2 days prior. can't remember what the other was like - too many years ago
But like many of the articles say the mucous can be more like the mucous in your nose... so don't get too scared just calmly call your Dr.
Also watch for leaking - your water breaking my not be the big gush that you might be expecting - slight wetness ongoing like you pee yourself slightly over and over - could be that your water has broken and you are just slowly leaking.

I keep hearing about this mucous-plug thing and it sounds totally gross. When exactly is it likely to fall out, and will it clog up my toilet or what?
A) We cannot tell a lie: The mucous plug isn't pretty. It's basically a gelatinous glob that seals off the opening of your uterus (think of a cork in a wine bottle). You can lose the plug — a thick vaginal discharge of mucus, sometimes tinged with blood — all at once or in pieces. If you do lose your plug all at once, it's not going to be any worse than a menstrual clot, says Kate Abello, M.D., an obstetrician-gynecologist in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland. Wear a pad or panty liner and be alert for other signs of labor, which may begin soon after or still be weeks away. Note that the mucous plug is different from "bloody show" — a vaginal discharge of stringy mucus streaked with blood that precedes labor by a day or two.

mucous plugs are not always clear. Don't let anyone scare you because they don't know the facts. Mucous plugs can be and of a fiberous stringy consistence and they can range from clear to clear with white blobs, to yellowish, and yes even to green. ITS PERFECTLY NORMAL. You may even get a brown tinge because of blood traces. you're fine and are just on your way to having a healthy happy baby.
You can lose your mucous plug up to a week before delivery.

Unless you are very flexible, the only way you can see your mucous plug is if your water broke and you should go to the hospital. Once your water is broken you have to give birth, because being open down there could cause infection. Please get off the computer and call someone for help. I hope you have a happy and healthy baby.

go to the doctor, either way it's gone and you need to mention that it was green but it may mean you may go into labor soon
