Hello. I was just wondering why people believe what they believe about Harry Potter. Whether they like it or not and why. I personally like them and find nothing immoral in them. I also am Christian so I know how that viewpoint is too. Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I am totally open to new ideas! Thank you for your opinions!!!

I would just like to clarify that when I said I knew the Christian viewpoint I did NOT mean that Harry Potter was in any way realated to Christianity.

I see nothing wrong with The Harry Potter books OR the DaVinci Code. They were both good books and good movies. I, myself, can determine the difference between my spirituality/religious views from that of works of fiction/fantasy.

I am a Christian and a mom, and I love Harry Potter. I am watching the Prisoner of Azkaban right now. I think as long as you realize that it a fictional story, there is nothing wrong with a Christian liking Harry Potter. I believe that magic does not play the essential role in the book as everyone thinks it does. What it comes down to is good vs. evil. The books are age appropriate for children and do not in any way promote dark magic or cults. If anyone is to put down Harry Potter, then they should also put down The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the Wizard of Oz, and just about every Disney movie ever made, they all have witches and spells in them. I think people are offended to see the witches and wizards as the good guys.
I will continue to support my belief that Harry Potter is a good fictional story that I don't mind my children reading. I think more parents should be glad that their children are actually reading books. I'll bet that the Harry Potter phenomenon has gotten more boys to pick up a book than anything else.

There, that's my opinion.

I LOVE them. They are not religious witches, they are fantasy witches. I see no religious aspect to them at all.

I really like the moral lessons they teach, from standing up to your friends, to it's your choices that make you who you are, not your qualities, to doing the right thing even if it means breaking rules. The books value courage, loyalty, trust, and friendship, and using one's own judgement. They show that things are not always what they seem, and neither are people (I have high hopes for Snape).

Besides all that, I just plain enjoy them! Although I'll hate them all forever if Harry, Ron, or Hermione die in the seventh book.
