i would say that the majority would consider him to still be a great player, because at his pace he will have exceptional numbers, but there are cynics(i'm one of them) who would say that he couldn't win a championship as the number one option...he needed shaq to win those championships and i for one am convinced he cannot win as the top scorer on a team

Kobe will still be considered one the best of all time. He probably might not win another championship with the Laker team he has now, but that doesn't take away from his future Hall of Fame status. People call him a bad person, a ballhog, a rapist, all that crap, but at the end of the day he's the best example of talent the NBA can give. He doesn't suck, but the Lakers sure do. People ask why a ballhog would even be considered for the hall of fame and the answer is because whenever he drops 60 50 or just 30, he did it because the passing thing was not working out. Face it, the Lakers have tried that and they sucked then and they've won their recent games only because kobe didn't give the ball up. I don't know much about him as a person, and he's a dick for cheating on his wife, but i love watching him torch up teams when he gets in the zone. That's why he'll be considered great, and one of the few who are considered great with more than 1 championship ring.

I love watching dirk and nash too, but i'll wait for either 1 to win a championship before i say anything about them.

winning championships is a touchy subject!
Bill Russel won 11 championships and he was MVP of 10 of those. But if i said Russell is the greatest player to ever play, people will throw out Michael who won 6, or Wilt who only won 2.
Kobe has wn 3 already. If he retired now he probably would go down as the best Laker Shooting Guard ever. And that says a lot with the Lakers rich history.

he'll be remembered as a great overall player and ultimate competitor. he's always been one of the leagues best defenders, and he has proved that he's got the best offensive game in the nba today. shaq needed kobe to win those 3 titles just as much as kobe needed shaq. if he doesn't win another i don't think it will be a big question about his ability, he doesn't have a complete team to work with, and hasn't since shaq left. say what you want about him being selfish but look at the guys around him? they ALL look to HIM to be the scorer, and thats how jackson wants it. they don't have anyone else that can take over a game, or even close.

He will still be considered a great player since he played a role in the Lakers Championships from 2000-2002. His #8 will be retired by the Lakers instead of #24, when he calls it a career.

Look at Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, John Stokcton, Dominique Wilkins, and Charles Barkley. None of them even won 1 ring and yet most of them are considered to be one of the 50 the greatest players of all time. Kobe will be remembered for all the records that he holds and has held. He will be remembered also for his remarkable talent. Honestly, he really doesn't need another ring. If a player can accomplish half of what he did, that player would probably be a hall-of-famer.

Kobe no longer triumphing without Shaq might make him look worse. He had plenty promise some years in the past, and if all that culminates in him no longer being waiting to win a championship without Shaq in 10 extra years of taking part in, that'll extremely harm his already-debatable image. i think of that Kobe will win a million extra ring in the previous he retires, and Nash additionally gets a million. Then which would be it.

Kobe Bryant suck! He's not a great player. Great players wins mvp awards & etc. Kobe only have 3 rings & a scoring titles to show for. What I say about that? Big deal. Horry have 6 rings to show & no one calls Horry great. Kobe been in the league 11 seasons & never won season mvp & been in 4 finals & never won finals mvp. I don't care what anybody say, but that sucks! MJ in 11 seasons had 4 rings, 4 finals mvps, 4 season mvps, 8 scoring titles, & etc.

KOBE BRYANT SUCK!

I know he is a baller, and will go down as prolly one of the top 20 all time. But he is a ballhog, and definitely woulndt have rings without shaq. But there is no doubt that he is the best offensive player in the league. He just doesnt pass and that is his downfall.
