Family ties, The Cosby Show, Facts of Life were all great sitcoms that also tried to teach something worthwhile, not like the garbage on tv today.

I was going to say Family Matters too. I watched Sponge Bob to make sure that it was okay for my son and If you can get past the rampant silliness, there's a strong message for work ethics, friendship, loyalty and honesty. Once I saw that side of him I found him to be a very endearing character.
