My friend just got her motherboard fried, and we don't know how. But I want to know since we had the same computer. Also to collect new knowledge since i never took it into account. Thanks in advance.

Let's see: bad cooling, bad power supply, maybe something was loose in the case and shorted two parts of the board.

Or the board isn't so great and wore out.

Power surges/spikes, fit a surge arrester

Liquid, dont put your coke on the computer or let your cat sleep on it

Faulty processor, if the processor fails it will often take the mobo with it, make sure the fan is good

Lightening strike to 'phone or power line, fit surge arrester

it might not be fried when you get a new borad YOU MUST MAKE SURE THOSE STAND-OFF/GOLDSTANDS PINS ARE LINED UP or it will short the board but once you find which pin iss not lined up remove it replace the board and it shall work
