Uhmm... 10 or 11 months?
He really shouldnt have ANY food until 6 months, and then you should start with fresh fruits and fresh steamed veggies...
They dont need solids for nutrtion until much closer to a year... starting at 4 months isnt beneficial and can actually be harmful.
Jennifer A: The possible risks of starting rice cereal too soon (or at all!) can include diabetes and (if you put it in a bottle) obesity. Rice cereal is basically a simple sugar. Its very high on the gleisemic index. Many infants have been shown to have a diabetic-type reaction to it. This may, or may not predispose them to diabetes later in life... but why take the chance?
Kids these days eat too much junk anyhow... why give them such a bad start when it comes to solids? start with FRESH foods... not processed and pre-packaged! That is EXACTLY whats wrong with americas diet.

We just had our 4 month checkup with the pediatrician yesterday. He told us that the main source of calories should still be breast milk or formula. He said that working solids into breakfast can be hard because the baby is so eager to eat at that time of day after sleeping all night. He also told us that until 6 months only single ingredient purees and rice cereal and no meats.

Go with this for about another month. Most doctors would recommend that you wait until 6 months for food, but I think if your baby is doing okay with this than 5 months will be fine. Start by introducing just 1 new meal at a time, go for 2 weeks and then add another meal. Also make sure to wait 3-5 days with each new food that you add so that you can watch for allergies.

My doctor told me to start rice cereal in the morning for breakfast. Then after 3-5 days get them to try barley and then oatmeal baby cereal. After they are eating cereal well it is said u can introduce meat purees, and then veggie purees and then last but not least fruit purees. The most important thing is to try one at a time for 3-5 days in case an allergic reaction occurs because then you will know what caused it.

i'm no longer even going to get into the communicate of whether a 4 month previous ought to be already presented to solids or no longer. however the only one ingredient i might prefer to show out is that for the period of spite of age i might stay far off from the puddings, custards, deserts and the different that consists of sugar. in case you pick to characteristic the cereal, by utilising the dry ingredient and combine with the formulation making specific there is not any further sugar. that's some thing that a 4, 6 or 8 month previous would not choose for specific!

When i had my first child (2000) i was advised by my health visitor start solids around 16 weeks. I had my second child in 2004 and i was advised milk only until he is 6 months!!!!! In my opinion your baby will let you know when he/she needs solid food, for example, if he/she crys more frequently than usual and there is no other explaination it could be that milk is no longer satisfying enough for her. If you are worried about giving too much solids too young and you are bottle feeding you could try a hungry baby milk.... But in my personal experience both my babies had solid brekkie and solid eveningmeal/supper at about 5/6 months along with their usual milk.

You can start now as long as it`s pureed with no lumps. Lumps start at 6+ months depending upon him. Ignore any thumbs down I may get. (I usually do when I say it`s ok to start weaning at 4 months) When I had my 2 kids a whole generation were started on solids at 4 months. Probably your generation.

That would be up to your baby. If he/she is satisfied with what you are doing right now, don't force the issue. However I know that sometimes that will not keep them happy. We started feeding our little one the bigger things at about 4 1/2 months.

keep baby on soft stuff for 4 more months--it's little digestive system has not yet become able to digest all of the more solid foods. Choking could be a problem too
