Hello, I am thinking of relocating to Upstate SC from the North East. I am in my upper 20's. Looking for more info about the area. Would love to live on a lake - Hartwell, Keowee, etc. How are these areas? Are the public schools good? I will probably be starting a family in the next 5 years so the school systems are important.
What is the major industry? Is the population growing or decreasing?
Ok enough questions for now. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Upstate SC is a growing area. The Greenville-Spartanburg region has become one of the better industrial areas. The schools are pretty good depending on specific areas. I'm curious where the previous 2 answers are from.(did he actually say the people are rude? pay is relative, the cost of living is less also) Unless you're from NYC, Philly or Newark you will probably find more racial diversity as the mix of black-whites is greater in the south (and contrary to northern opinion we are not all racist rednecks) As far as major industry there are alot of textiles, distribution and such. The medical field is fairly active also. Perhaps college football is actually the biggest field. - -Charleston,SC.

CC is right.

Don't bother. In general, schools in the south suck. There are no jobs that pay anything and the people are rude.
