Do to the fraying of the tissues in the body and such age is very much a part of any organic substance. Immortality cant be achieved but new research can extend life (other then eating good food and other such guff) will proberly emerge 2020 after years of trails. Genetics is not a part of aging because it only gives us basic tools such as good muscles or intellegence. Other then that theres no "secret" about immortality we get enough life as it is without diluting it with time.

This reminds me of a story I once read where through genetic engineering, beings were created that were virtually immortal. To make matters worse, even the diseases of depression and the act of suicide were genetically removed. These beings were miserable and when they were visited by earthmen, they wanted to be destroyed but could not do it themselves. They envied the mortal earthmen whereas the earthmen initially envied them.

A greater knowledge of molecular genetics has the potential to cure disease and prevent the aging process.

Please take note of the word "potential" in the above statement.

i don't think so.

i think mortality is still stronger and just a course in nature's process.

we can extend keeping away or putting off those triggers but sooner or later each element shall go the way of all things.

mortality does bring birth ya know.

as much as *I* would prefer to stay an prolonged, long term, the reality is that if scientific technological awareness advances to the element of one hundred+ lifespans for many human beings, we would be screwed on a planetary scale. you notice, human beings save having babies even with overpopulation and absence of aspects. If we combine that with toughness, we would be in a genuine mess. toughness for each man or woman ability dying for each man or woman. i'm 29.

Biological immmortality is sketchy, as the stars will all eventually die and the universe will approach maximum entropy. Chemistry will no longer exist...only useless irreversible diffuse background heat energy. No chemistry = no biology.

I don't think so. Aging is a very complex matter. However it can and does provide longer life spans.
