So I have been looking into my birth control options. I am 24, married with two children, and don't want anymore for a while! *My youngest is 2 months*. I can't remember to take pills, and I want something that will last. Before getting pregnant with my second child, I had the paragard copper IUD. I liked the fact that I didn't have to worry about it, but I also had complications. (Very heavy period, terrible cramps, backaches, etc.)
I have heard about the Mirena IUD. I have looked at their website and researched it, but I want to know if anyone has or has had one and what are the pros and cons? Thanks :)

I myself have never had it but my sister-in-law, and 2 other friends of mine did. They all experienced horrible reactions to it. It was like they were in menopause but they are your age and younger. They also experienced pains, migraines, backaches, etc. It may not be the case for everyone but I know after watching how miserable it made them until they got it out - I don't ever want it. It even caused emotional changes in my sister-in-law, like depression and anxiety. she just got hers out about a week ago (she's had hers since about last september) and you can already tell a huge difference in how she acts. I know a couple people that used the Nuvaring with very few symptoms, just the irregular period and cramps for a couple months. Hope you find something that works without complications for you! Good Luck!

Sorry to say but i still got pregnant off the IUD. i went with the Depo shot, you have to go once every three months. I dont have a period anymore because of that shot which for any girl is wonderful. I am the same way with remembering the pill and this i say is the best for me.

Hi:) I've used Mirena IUD and it is my opinion that i had no complications with it whatsoever. My periods were very light and i had to other type of side affects. I think though that everyone's body is different and therefore, everyone has a different reaction. I had no problems or complains from it. Best of luck with your decision!

I liked it because I didn't gain weight like I did with the depo shot. I didn't stop getting my period, but it lessened from six days to three. However, I did get pregnant with it two months before it was due to be changed, so it's not 100% effective. I would still get it again, after the baby's born, but my hubby's offered to get a vasectomy as well, so we'll be doubly protected.

i am 23 with two kids under two i understand totally what you are saying about no more! i have the mirena right now. i have had since christmas. i bled for like the first 3 months or so sometimes it was just spotting and i have had 2 normal periods since...on my second right now. it honestly isn't supposed to do that like 10% women have that but i am one of those. my nurse practioner told me that its for women who have had babies and have bad periods. both true for me. i actually have a period this month that isn't killing me. my normal periods took me out i just laid about but i just have cramps and some bloating. its wonderful i totally recommend the mirena for you!!

I don't use the IUD, but I would recommend the NuvaRing. It makes periods shorter/lighter and you don't have to worry about an everyday thing. Also, you can leave it for 4 weeks and then replace with another one. You can stop your cycle completely or have it every three weeks if you prefer.

I've had mine for almost 5 years. I havn't really had any problems.
I do want to get mine out a few months early because of my mood swings and lack of periods.

I used it. I had it taken out after the 3rd month. The cramping was very bad. It was if I was in labor again.
