I have the Samsung A900m with Sprint service.
It has a light on the outside that is either red or green depending on what it's doing.
You can turn on the service light to flash periodically in the display settings.

Yes a lot of phones have these. My old LG i had with sprint had one and also my current A-900 with Sprint also does. If you want to turn it off it should be under display and is called a service light

My 5600 had a service light on the outside I hated the thing.
