Are we to assume that matts damon's g/f gave mark wahlberg the envelope that leo had? Or did marky-mark figure it out on his own? And can wwe make an argument that she was pregnant with leo's kid?

yeah in my opinion, that's the direction that martin scorcese wants us to think. that the shrink gave mark the envelope and that she has leo's baby, not matt's. but then, mark IS the only other person who knows about leo's existence other than the chief.
i didn't like the way this film portrayed the shrink. it made her seem like a fickle bed-hopper. guess the hong kong version is too harmless for hollywood standards. too bad the departed left out the morse code things. i think that's amongst the best parts in the original.

Yes I think the g/f definitely gave Mark the envelope and more than likely she was pregnant with Leo's baby because Matt's 'equipment' wasn't functioning properly.

Yeah, I assumed she gave the envelope to Marky-Mark. You can definitely argue she was having Leo's baby. In fact, I was rooting for it to be Leo's baby.

It could've been either, but while I was watching is I definitely thought it was because of the envelope...same with the pregnancy--in my mind--it was Leo's baby. The mystery just adds to the greatness of the movie....i like being able to form my own conclusions rather than be told everything.

Definetly with Leo because Matt had some problems and could not help 'make' the baby. It's definetly the envelope.

yeah but how would she know to give it to wahlberg,and at the time leo didnt know who the bad cop was,right?
