I was just wondering, how do I find out about open casting audition (preferably in canada)? for thing's like to be an extra in movies and in TV. Not anything like leading man roles. I'm gonna be honest.. I'm 20, broke and can't find a job. And it might be fun to do. I don't have any kind of manager or have ever really acted before. But I'm looking to be an extra so how much can I really do? So can anyone help me out? How do I go about this? And remember something preferably in Canada.

I'm not Canadian, so I can't help you with specifics. But the usual thing to do is look in the trade press. There are bound to be several magazines/newspapers available for actors, or for the theatre and film industries - not consumer magazines like Vanity Fair or Entertainment Weekly, but special interest ones for the industry. Those are the magazines in which ads for open castings usually appear.

Good luck!

If you have actor friends, they are the best source for locating audition information. Look in the theatre section of your local newspaper, they may list audition information. If you don't have actor friends, find an acting class and join it! You will get valuable information from knowing other actors.

They list auditions sometimes at http://www.actorspages.org/viewnotices.php (There is no charge for submission)

You can also post your pictures and resume for free.
