Might be staying there in August, just wondering if it was a nice place or not? What is there to do? What should I do? What should I not do? Anything will be helpful!

I like the Rio. It has the two best buffets in Vegas and the Masquerade Sky Show. Pen & Tellers show is there and so is the Vodoo Lounge. Not to mention the hot new 3121 with Prince.
The rooms at the Rio are average. If you are looking for a hotel off (but close to the strip) the Palms is the nicest for rooms.

The Rio is not a bad hotel, but not one that I go to often for the very fact that it does not have the best restaurant or bar selection (as compared to the others in town) and it is off the strip. If you want to stay off the strip go across the street from the Rio to the Palms (newer and hipper).
But, for the price of a room at the Rio you can get a hotel room on the strip and not have to take a cab if you want to go see any of the attractions/shows there.
