Not a contender this year but they will be improved. They are probably 2 years away from being a contender again. I would look for them to go 6-10. I think they will make a few more moves this offseason that will help them imrpove. They will improve their offensive line, pick up a young QB, and hopefully dump Moss and pick up a WR with a better attitude which will help. They also have a new coaching staff which could be a good or abd things, time will tell. I think the Raiders will be a far better team then they were last year but they are still a bit away from becoming a conteder again.

Better, yes. A contender? No. If their defense keeps playing well, they'll stand a chance at going 50/50 this year, because they actually played very well on that side of the ball. What they need is some stability on the o-line and at the QB position. Unless I'm mistaken, didn't they start Brooks, Tui and Walter at the helm this last year? And none of them really played that well. Once you get someone who is playing decently there, things will pick up.

Not a shot in hell. They're going to draft JaMarcus Russell with their pick, and hand him the keys. It will take him a few years, if he succeeds at all. The Raiders are still terrible on defense, lacking on the offensive line, have no go-to receivers, and no good running backs. They're in full rebuilding mode, and will be there until Russell learns how to run the offense, which could take as long as 3 years.

Simple Answer: I think they can be last years Jets.
If they can beef up their OL like the Jets did last year they have a good chance. They already beefed up their running game with signing Rhodes and one of the best rune blocking fullbacks Griffith. And with a healthy LaMont their running game should be nice. Then that opens up the passing game which leads to some play action to Moss deep for 6. They already have a nasty defense which let up the 3rd least in terms of yardage. Imagine how good there D can be when the young players get better and the offense gives them a chance to rest.

Are you crazy!?!?!?
Ok, you have a good receiver in randy moss, you've picked up superbowl champ d-rhodes. you don't have very many other players than them.
This draft you're most likely going to pick up Russell as a QB. Great choice. The problem is, the Raiders have NOT been building up their offensive line, defensive line, line backing corp, hell, pretty much their whole team.
Simple answer: The Raiders have no chance this season.

Possible but unlikely. They have made gains in signing two good running backs, and beefed up the O-Line. They will most likely draft Jamarcus Russell, but he will need a full season to adapt to the Raider offense which is much different that what he was used to at LSU.

No way they are last year's Jets. The only thing they have in common is a new, young coach. They'll be better, but they'll have a losing record. They won't be able to find a decent QB, and they won't be able to protect him, and they won't be able to run the ball. Their defense will get fierce though.
The fact that they have 6 games against the Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs definitely doesn't help.

NOT A CHANCE. They just traded Randy Moss to Green Bay, and got rid of Aaron Brooks as quarterback. It will be YEARS before the Raiders are a playoff team. Sorry Raider Nation! Ha ha ha! (charger fan here!)

Seriously doubt it. There D was decent last year but they've got a long way to go on O. They need a better OL, will probably have a rookie QB, new coach, new system. It will take them a year or two to improve much.

i think Denver is gonna lock up the division and the wild card hunt is going to be ridiculous, but if they play their card's right this this off season is going to be the one to make them a contender next year.
with the addition of Griffith (lead block) & Rhodes and jordan is healthy a i don't seem them with the # 1 pick if that's consoling
