I don't think that HP is a way for the devil to tempt us! How ridiculous!
I am a Christian, but I looove Harry Potter! I think that Christains who don't like it and won't read it are insecure in their faith, and don't want to stray... but I know that I wont! I may not be a perfect Christain, but who is? Besides, just cause I read HP, it doesne mean I'm going to brandish a twig at my mother and yell AVADA KEDAVRA when I get mad at her!
Reading HP makes you no more a witch than watching Eragon makes you a dragon!
This is ridiculous! HP is actually a story of good vs evil, just like every other story!
Also, I know Rowling based a LOT of her stuff of the lord of the rings, which, by the way, Tolkien wrote as a Christain book. Soo...hmmm....
It would be worse if the characters werent children, and were doing actual Wicca practices... I mean, come on, Magic Wands? Thats just something magicians do (magicians are merely illusionists anyways) So HP is not accurate to witchcraft anyways, so this is just preposturous all this "HP IS TEACHING MY CHILD TO DO WITCHCRAFT AND WORSHIP THE DEVIL"
Whatever...if anything, Voldemort scares the crap out of them, so they don't want anything to do with "the dark side"

In a world where not everyone is of pure heart the contents of a Harry Potter book can not only be satisfiying to the flesh and imagination but can trigger false hopes and deceiving ideas in a childs heart.
Since you are christian than you know that there is a God and there is a devil both try to show us paths to follow. God in a sense is more like a gentleman and gives us the choice, the devil is more intrusive and will coerse it's way into making us decide on what will be beneficial towards his kingdom.
So if you fill your heart with reading of the latter rather than the Goodness of God, no matter how rosy you paint the works of the devil and how charming it is made to seem. It is still filling your heart with negative rather than good. Which in turn makes your mind more confused when the time comes to make the right decision.

Personally, I think the Harry Potter stories are some of the most moral books out there right now, and that anyone who thinks they are anti-Christian has not read them (or at least, not closely).
Most people like to cite the quote from the Bible "thou shalt not suffer a witch to life" - which is a mistranslation of "witch" - the word is actually "poisoner."
Also a Christian, with a very strong tie to the HP books.
As to why people like the books... I think they came along at the right time. It's a world that isn't unlike our own, but is different enough to fascinate us and allow us to make decisions about our own world and lives by seeing the choices Harry makes - his good choices and his mistakes - and learning from them.

I'm Christian and I too think there's no harm in reading it.
However, I simply don't like the books. I think Rowling is a good author, but the story doesn't appeal to me. I don't find the characters, settings, or plot at all interesting. I actually don't like any of the popular youth fantasy that's out there now, Harry Potter and Eragon included.

per chance no longer "dislike". Harry Potter followers a useless ringer for the HP extra valuable than Twilight because it has extra valuable tale, humor and moral training. HP truthfully extra the target audience right into a unique measurement. HP followers are extra logical. And the Twilight movie (the e book is incredibly bearable) became thrown interior the trash lengthy time period in the past when I talked about Kristen Stewart with that unmarried expression on her face by the movie. And the "sparkle" ingredient and vampires having too a lot starting up position. The HP books are genius.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the books....it is a work of fiction like Cinderella and Snow White...some people just want to ride their moral high horse and force their views on other people.
Personally I think the author has a fantastic gift of telling a story that keeps children and adults both interested. I love the series
