You have to gain her trust with the halter, because she will likely be afraid of it. Reward her when she behaves well, and she will eventually accept it.

Tie her to a lonely super solid post. Make sure you use a shipping or cheap halter the first few times just in case you need to cut her free. After she gets the drift that she needs to give to the halter rather than pull back to get relief, you can start leading. Make sure you pull and release with her. When she gives a step, you release the pressure. Good luck.

The easiest way I've found with my heifers and show steers is to begin leading them by doing circles. If you try and get them to lead out straight forward they are more likely to fight and pull you around. By going in circles you pull them off balance and force them to move their feet. Be sure to give several breaks during the process and keep cattle cubes handy for a treat.

We've found that the best way is to tie them to someting solid where they can lay down and give them some hay. Don't give them any water, the idea is to lead them to water a couple times a day. If they know that you will take them to water, they know you're giving them something they want and won't hurt them.

My mare had a filly in effortless terms a pair of months in the past. i've got had previous adventure with mares and foals and that i found over the years what works the terrific and to my convience. My horse's are exterior all day long so as quickly as I deliver them into their stalls to eat I capture the foals. I halter them and enable them to stand with the mum's whilst i feed my hay. (the trick to haltering is to easily stroll as much as them and shop following them no count the place they go. yet do no longer make any rapid movements. basically act such as you are attempting this all time and that's a regularly happening recurring. because of the fact in case you have self assurance so will your colt) Then i'm going to take a cotton lead and make a butt rope to deliver them out of the stall in the event that they gained't lead out. the 1st time you are attempting this it could many times be a rigidity on the foal and mom because of the seperation yet forget approximately approximately that. a three month previous is sufficiently previous to be seperated for a whilst. I even take my week previous foals and try this. yet anyhow i'm going to tie them close to their mom, yet no longer close sufficient the place they might touch. Then i'm going to start petting and touching and bonding and showing them a sturdy time. as quickly as they're sufficiently previous to eat grain and hay, i'm going to feed them in the aisle so they associate me with sturdy issues. numerous people enable you to understand to no longer tie youthful foals up because of the fact they might reason injury to their neck, yet in all reality if we don't prepare them whilst they're youthful, as quickly as they become older they might have extra rigidity to tug decrease back and do extra harm. I won't misinform you, they many times will figit and shop on in the previous each and every thing yet by utilising the 2d week of allowing them to stand for about 30 minutes - a million hour they grow to be very respectful of the rope and halter. It makes ideal plenty much less complicated because of the fact they have already discovered to yield to the rope. desire i ought to help (:

I know this sounds bad but it isn't...tie her to a skid loader or something and very slowly walk her around....this is a two person job.....after she is used to being pulled stand next to her while the skid loader is pulling her so she understands she can not get away.....then lead her around in a gated are in case she gets away.....do not lead an animal by yourself until you feel comfortable being alone.

first step I'd do is tie her to something solid on it till she catches on to the I am not gonna break this
Then how big and strong are you? If she can't drag you lead her a short way to her dinner.
