I recently bought and beat God of War 2. I am stunned with the amount of craftsmanship and just plain greatness of the game.

Yeah I like Mario but I don't think any Mario comes close to greatest game of all time, never been really into Halo.
Zelda Ocarina of Time and tie between Metriod Prime and Hit Man 2 Silient Assassin are my other 2 picks.

I am not trying to take away from the classics but they do not approach this game in sheer quality.
I like the Model T as the classic car but that doesn't make it better than a Ferrari

True this borrows from other games and is built by the classics but to me that is the point of games..you get better and better as you progress....I love the classics but to me no contest at all if you ask to choose between mario and God of war 2 (which makes GoW 1 look like crap, and GoW 1 was great!)

yea i think its up there, but for alot of people, its too soon to say that... games like that this one and legacy of kain are great stories with great gameplay to match. when its all said and done i think its greatness will be seen. and consider this: its better than alot of the games that are next gen...(xbox 360/ ps3)

I'm sorry but as good as GoW 2 is to say that it is one top 3 games ever made is just not right lol,if the GoW series came out I"ll say 9 years ago,yes maybe,but GoW borrows a lot of elements that Nintendo and Sony made in other games before it,so my answer is no, granted GoW 2 is a fantastic game.take care.

One of the top 3 in the last generation meanign PS2, XBOX and GC perhaps, but of all time? No way. Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, and so many others trump it there.
It is an awesome game though. They really improved from God of War 1.

Sorry, but you can't beat the classics that shapped gaming. However God of War 2 is a very good game, it still isn't one of the best. Consider amazing games that redifined gaming as the best games ever made such as (Zelda, Mario, Sonic, etc.)

no..not even close dont get me wrong its a good game but top 3?? no way your forgetting games like mario, zelda, halo, MGS, and the list could go on.
