I would really like a cherry blossom tree...(the kind that don't produce cherrys, just the flowers) but I don't know if they even grow in Reno, Nevada and if it's possible to grow them in a larg pot indoors. Any gardening tips?

Yes, they will certainly grow in Nevada. I think they even have a cherry blossom garden in your area

You can keep cherry blossom in pot but they will do much better if they are in the ground. And also, Cherry Blossom need cold winter, so keeping them indoor is not a good idea.
Plant them in a sunny place with well drain soil. If you are planting a white/light pink tree, then plant them against a dark background, such as an evergreen plant, that'll make the flowers show up the most.
Check with your local nursery for them. They are very lovely plants (I have 2 in my garden). Have fun growing!

Ornamental Cherry Blossom Tree

There are different types of ornamental cherries all under the botanical name of Prunus. Most grow in zones 5 to 9. Check your zone and that will give you an idea if they like your area. If you are worried about the heat I'm growing mine in a temperature range of 20 deg F to 110 deg F, with some shade during the day. Morning sun is the best if you can manage it. Successful varieties at my place are Prunus, Sato-zakura group (Japanese flowering cherry) 'kanzan, and weeping - 'Cheals Weeping Cherry'. The cooler the summers the better and it's worth inquiring about the toughness of some varieties, some seem to like it cooler to go well. But if you like it and can water it give it a go.

You could check on Dwarf trees. This type tree is called an Ornamental Cherry tree. Likely you have Nursuries and landscape places there.
