i got a violation the other day for helping a single mom find a school for her child in the same state that i live in. her child is profoundly deaf and due to getting no help at her current school, she was falling far behind in her academics. i responded saying it was not right for them to treat her that way because of the way she is and i gave her a website and location of a school for the deaf who i know has a great reputation and who would give her child every chance to succeed that they could. i was truly trying to help someone because i care and i got violated. my question is that if we get into trouble for helping others on yahoo answers and yahoo answers is supposed to be a site for "helping people" isn't yahoo answers in and of itsself a violation? think about that. how can we possibly stay out of trouble if this is the case? thank you for you time and efforts on this matter and good luck in the future.

I don't understand what they think you did wrong. kids with special needs have to attend special schools or at least special classes. I worked briefly with a deaf girl that attended regular high school. she didn't like it because she had no one but me to talk to and I was in another school. she needed to be with others who could communicate with her. seems like yahoo gets kinda picky at times.

There is so much I can say but if you let Yahoo! know about your disapproval of the violation you received they do listen. I complained about one received about 9 days ago and I received a note back from Customer Care that it was revoked and they restored some lost points. They do require your feedback in order to make Y! A more user friendly.

I hate to answer a question with a question. What happens when you get a violation? Probably getting too geographically close to someone is a red flag. It is up to you to decide if the greater good was served and I hope your involvement was a blessing , I think all of us have to ask ourselves the big question, "Am I being a part of the problem or part of the answer?"

i agree that you send them an email though i assume this is not about points but more about the principle of the matter. i would definitely press the point of why you received the violation. b/c maybe then they will understand the frustration of the violation system and improve upon it. good luck!

its completely wrong. its because yahoo answers doesnt check for the genuineness of a report. if a person gets your reported - then they do not bother to check whether the answer is offensive or not. that is one flaw which yahoo answers needs to work on.

I agree with you; they're out of control with nobody in the driver's seat. Apparently! It appears they're letting their cold computers make all the decisions for them.
But don't let 'em get you down.
It can be real to us but just a repetitive job for them.
