Did he inherit money? How was it that he was able to afford an apartment on the East Side across the hall from Jerry, eat, pay rent, etc.? He certainly didn't work!

i think they thought you would figure out that he was collecting
mentally insane disability checks. that and the scams he pulled.

Kramer was a tv charachter sweety. There is no way a guy on strike from a bagel shop could afford his life.

Didn't he just used to do scams all the time? Like his "coffee table coffee book" and selling all those raincoats....like making a quick buck here and there? I don't think he had a full time job....(lucky guy!) ;-)

That was the joke.

Kramer's whole point was that he was this wild, outlandish guy who continued along with no visible means of support.
