Believe it or not as long as the serial number can be read and the amount, as little as 33% of the bill, banks must take it so that it can be destroyed properly and give you a new bill.

as long as you have 51% of the bill, it is considered usable, lots won't want to take it, but any bank should as long as it has a serial number on it and isn't a forged bill.

just read the response about 33% of the bill... I believe this is incorrect, as what is to stop a person from cutting a 20 into thirds, with two portions having a serial number and turning in both thirds for two twenties... easy way to double your money...

just take it to walmart and buy something and put the $20.00 in the automatic bill accepter thing in the self check out line.
