I know that a Tide pen helps in getting stains out of clothes. Maybe it could help with your rug. Normally the pen is used for fresh stains that you need to get rid of when you are in a hurry. Hope that you find something that helps!

There is a product out there called Carpet Aid, it'll get almost anything out of the carpet. I use the product personally and it works. The one thing I need to know is what kind of carpet is it? Berber? Plush? And what kind of fiber is it? Nylon? Polyester? It makes a difference. Most important thing is that you have to blot, never rub.
