Hey-
If the baby has slept, eaten, and has had a diaper change you should conisder taking him/her to the doctor.
He/she may have an infection or an aillment that they can tell you about. I raised my nephew and this always happened, he cried, and cried for no aparent reason. I turned out that he had an ear infection.
If it comes out that it's nothing...you covered all of your ends, for the baby's well-being. And, you just find out that you have a temperamental baby.
Good luck!

YES! If the baby is in a clean diaper and has been feed and all the other things that I'm sure you've check on it's fine to let them cry it out! And yes babies can cry for no reason heck I cry for no reason sometimes! What I did with my daughter was let her cry for about 10 mins then I'd check on her just to let her know that I was still there and after that I'd wait about 5 mins longer each time. It didn't take long for her to figure out that crying didn't get her her way. And yes it is hard to listen to your baby cry but if they don't learn it from the begging then your going to end up with a 1 year old stuck to your hip all the time. Good luck!

I know where you are. I have two babies, and one of them was deemed to have colic. I knew he didn't...I kept taking him to doctors, the crying was just not stopping. All night all day, it didn't matter if he was full, if he was diapered, if he was being held, or not...he cried. FINALLY, I got a doctor to listen to me, it turns out he had a protein intolerence...we switched him from milk based formula to soy...that didn't to the trick. We then switched him from soy to lactose free (Enfamils nurtamigen) and that did the trick. I have to admit that there were times I let him cry in his room so that I could get some sleep. I didn't like to, and I didn't want to, but this happened for over two months. I NEEDED SOME SLEEP! I would say it is okay to let them cry for a while, as many nurses have told me, sometimes babies just need to cry. We can walk, run, and get other forms of exercise, they get it through crying. Just make sure you have done everything you know to do before allowing the baby to cry.

When my son cried until I could not handle it I would give him to my mother and if she was not home, I would give him a nice bath. (That is if you have not tried that already.) I also would place the palm of my hand on his chest until he calmed down, that actually worked the best, even now and he is 4 years old. If you think it is gas just rub the middle of baby's back until you hear a burp, sometimes patting does not get all the gas out. Good luck and if worse comes to worse take the baby to the hospital, it might be something serious.

It depends. Maybe the baby is sick? I personally dont find it wrong to "spoil" your baby. They are only babies for so long. So if it makes you and the baby feel better to hold him/her and go for it. If the baby just cries and cries for hours at a time I sure wouldn't let them keep crying. Something must be wrong if he or she does. Good luck! Are you asking from personal experience? If so I hope things get better for you I know having a colicky baby is very stressful. Been there.

Some people will tell you to let your babies "cry it out" or CIO, but I don't believe in CIO. I think babies cry for a reason. Soemthing hurts, maybe they're hot, maybe they're cold, who knows. I also don't believe you can spoil a baby.

Comfort the child, shussh it, rock it, put it in the swing, try swaddling before you put it down, try laying it on the side instead of the back, try laying it on the tummy and patting it on the back. There are a million things you can try with out giving up.

Good luck.

Absolutely...Sometimes babies cannot be consoled and you just need to let them cry it out. Check on them every few minutes. Personally I will pick my son back up after about 5 and he calms down

Be sure to rule out everything from wet diaper, hungry, tried, gas pains ect....but if your at your witts end yes walk away for a few minutes then go back after you've regaind yourself and try to confort the baby. They feel your tension so if your worked up they likely arn't going to calm down.

I'd say yes. If you've done wat you can then its no problem but it will also teach him not to e spoiled mine is. So I got to where he just cries. You can try putting him to bed and letting him cry hisself to sleep but check on him every once and a while. But if your like me It don't last long unless my fiancee is here cause I get to feeling sympathy for him and i hold him and stuff. ut usually i try to wait 10 minutes if he's still cryng i get him. Trying to get him to understand he's not going to get right away.I'm not going to stop every moment. Mainly because my boy is spoiled thats why i do so. He thinks hes gotta have when he wants and i be dang if he be like that when hes older. And yes babies do cry to just be crying. I don't know why but they do so that may be the problem. But like i said you can let them cry but it don't last long for me because i feel bad.

at three weeks my baby became very colicky! i spoke with her pediatrician and he said if she is fed, burped and changed and she is still crying and nothing i do can satisfy her, then lay her down in her crib, shut the door, put some ear plugs in and tune out for about 10 mintues! then go back in and check on her and cont. this. he also suggested mylicon drops which did help some. good luck.
