My mom didn't work until my younger sister went into middle school. I loved that she was home when i got out of school. My mom has a college degree so she could have had a career but she chose to stay home. I would like to be able to do the same for my children but i would also like a career, i think both parents just need to have a healthy balance between work and family, if both parents work or not.

You mean a work out of the house, rigth? remember house wifes work a lot but too.
The answer is: Yes all the time, she even took me with her to a little town when i was just days old, because she was doing the social service there.
She is a Doctor and i think i didn't miss anything with this situation. On weekends she used to cook for us, we spend time togheter, and we (me and my sisters) had a great family.
Of course we all are hard work women, she teached us that.

Yes, on the farm. She's 77 and still picks apples in the fall, feeds all the kids and grandkids on holidays, keeps the house and garden, and walks five miles a day. All while raising five kids.

Yes, I was a latchkey kid starting at the age of 9. A lot of my friends were also latchkey kids who came home to empty houses after school. Today our parents would be prosecuted for neglect and endangerment and we would be sent to live in foster homes.

My mother was head secretary to the owner of The Star Newspaper, in Chicago. She worked from 7am to 8-9pm at night, then came home, went to her bedroom, and laid there until she fell asleep. I was raised by Grandma.

She went to work for the school system after me and my step sister were in school so she could have weekends and holidays off, and be home when we got home. I did the same thing after my kids were in school, and worked with many of the same people she did.

My mom just loves being a mom. She told me when I graduated college we all have a choice in life and she loved hers, being a mom was the best thing in the world to her.

When I was very young, my mother worked as a Cocktail Waitress at night while my father watched us. (Ugh- I hated that- it gives me knots in my stomach thinking about it still), and when I was older, she drove a school bus full time. I used to get rides in the morning, even though I wasn't supposed to.
