The death toll of British civilians by end of WW2 was in the region of 400,000. Not sure how many British military dead. Americans 28,000 killed fighting in Europe. The American's names are all in the Book of Rememberance, the American Chapel, St. Paul's Cathedral, London.

I can't give you numbers but at Uni what struck me most was the largest number of dead from all nations by far was the Russians. A figure of 12 million sticks in my head. I remember thinking the war was fought on the eastern front as much as the fields of Normany. Not much statistical help there i'm afraid..
