A maternal cousin is the child of one of your mother's siblings. The child of an aunt or uncle from your mother's side of the family. It is a first cousin and shares 1/4 of your genotype.

Maternal cousing are as you say, cousins on your mother's side. Marrying them in the UK is legal. Check the Bible.

No all it means that is a cousin on their mothers side of the family.A cousin on their fathers side would be a paternal cousin. A cousin is a cousin no matter what side of the family they derive from.i
