I'm having no luck finding a good lip color. I have fairly light skin, currently mid-light brown hair and blue eyes. I don't want something that looks really fake but I would like to have a little color. I've been trying mauvey pinks but that's not working anymore. Any specific colors from specific brands? I don't want to keep just buying them and trying them without knowing if it'll look right. Thanks.

To find a natural looking lipstick (aka Your Lips But Better), look at your own lip color & try to find a color that "boosts" it.

Another consideration is your skin tone (warm or cool)*.

A few suggestions:
1) Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Cherries in the Glow
(an easy to wear sheer red w/ a hint of brown - almost universally flattering for pale - medium skin & neutral)

2) Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (looks dark in tube but glides on to become a sheer deep berry) or Almost Red (cool, sheer cherry red)

3)BeneFit Birthday Suit (sheer lipstick - soft redwood); this brand has an excellent range of colors & testers. Available @ boutiques, Sephora, some Macy's & online (http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/node/n/164953011/??ex)

*Here's how to determine your skin tone.

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

Look at your wardrobe and hold up a few items in different colors against your face. Which ones appear more flattering to you in a mirror with natural sunlight? Which colors are you drawn to?

If you are not sure, ask one or two trusted friends or family members who's style you admire.

Hard to say, without seeing you. In my experience, you just have to experiment. I bought lots of lipsticks that didn't work for me, and I either gave away or tossed. You could go to a counter, like MAC or Estee Lauder, and have them help you. That might be the best way.
