my wife wants to get a breast reduction (36F) and she has very sensitive nipples and breasts in general. I'm not wanting her to get the procedure but she has back problems and other such things. I'm just wondering if her sensitivity will change?

I had a reduction Feb 2006 and my nipples are as sensitive as they were pre reduction.

Support her in her research and going through breast reduction. You will love her perky breasts!

It could take up to a year or more for nipple sensation to come back.

One of the possible complications of breast reduction is a change in nipple sensation. Although some women experience increased nipple sensation after breast reduction, some loss of sensation can occur and may be permanent.

In addition, it is possible for the tissue of a nipple to die, partially or completely, the latter being an uncommon but serious complication of breast reduction. If complete nipple loss occurs, it is possible to reconstruct a nipple from local breast skin or from a graft skin taken from the upper, inner thigh. Nipple reconstruction is usually delayed until six months after the original operation, during which time an adhesive artificial nipple can be worn if desired.

Most women with large breast complain of low sensation in their nipples and after breast reduction they usually have more sensation. This procedure needs to be done if your wife is suffering.

I am having a reduction in a few weeks- to go from a 34G to a 34D and I also have very sensitive nipples and breasts, my surgeon has told me that many patients of his have retained their sensitivity and those who lost it regained it within a few months. Good luck to your wife

Mine didn't =) I just felt more confident, which probably made it feel better anyway. I did have some feeling loss in my back kind of underneath my arms, but that went away too. Good Luck
