Darkness is the lack of light. In space we see things as being lit because they either emit light or reflect it. If there is space with no significant matter in it, it can neither radiate nor reflect.

Darkness is not made up of anything specific; it is just the absence of light. If you want to get technical, the darkness in the night sky is occupied by all of the things in the Universe that are not luminous enough for us to see. When we point the Hubble Space Telescope at a "dark" patch of the sky, it photographs stunning images of galaxies and nebulae that are not bright enough for our eyes to resolve.

If you can see a planet at night, that is the sun's reflection that you see on that planet. The same reason that you can see the moon. The reason that you see black, is that there is nothing out there for the sun to reflect off of. There are reflection nebula's and emission nebula's in deep space. The emissions nebula's have so much hydrogen in them(when hydrogen atoms collide with other hydrogen atoms), they emit light. The reflection nebula's don't have enough hydrogen , but rely on nearby stars to reflect their presents. So in essence, what the darkness is, is nothing.

Darkness is nothing. It is simply the absence of light.
Some of the darkness you see in space actually contains matter, but it is dense clouds of dust that block out light, and thus it appears dark. You dont actually see "darkness", it's just the explanation for the absence of the light.

The "dark" sky is not actually dark...it just lacks visible light. The universe is actually filled with radiation, both ultraviolet and ifrared. It just happens to not lie on the visible spectrum. Howerver, radio telesposcopes and infrarometers can see it clearly. That's how we get our lovely pictures of nebulas.

It...is...nothing.
But no, it is not nothing because nothing is something
since it can be described...
True nothing is .
It's what you perceive it as, nothing or truly nothing.
