If you bought your ferret at a pet store than more than likely you have a Marshall ferret. These ferrets don't grow to their normal size because of the early neutering that Marshall farms does. They also are known to have many medical problems because of this to. They tend to be about half the size of a full grown ferret that wasn't neutered at such a young age. Your ferret probably has a month or two left to grow he should double in size, but he won't be anywhere close to the actual size he should be. If you want a big ferret don't buy a Marshall ferret, find a breeder that sells them and doesn't have you alter them untill they are at least a year old. These ferrets grow the right size and are much healthier. I have two ferrets(male and female) and my female is full grown and practically the same size as when I got her at 8 weeks. My male is twice the size she is but when compared to my friends ferret that they got from a diferrent breeder he is a midget. If you have a Marshall ferret you can't go by what books and internet say because they don't grow to those sizes. If you don't have a Marshall ferret it should be 2-3 pounds if altered at the right age and 4-6 pounds if not altered. Males tend to be between 15 and 16 inches and the tail is 3-4 inches long.

Depends on where you live. Ferrets in Europe and the UK are bigger than the ferrets in the States. Their diet is more natural for the most part and in the States most ferrets are Marshall ferrets and there's a lot of inbreeding there. Just make sure he gets a diet high in protein available to him 24/7. Check the ingredients carefully - kibble should be at least 36% protein. Since your ferret is male, you can probably expect at least 2-3+ pounds. At only 3 months, he has a ways to go.

If you purchased your ferret from a pet store, it probably came from Marshall Farms. I really have nothing great to say about them, however, this is not the time or place.

The reason Marshall Farms ferrets tend to be on the small size is a) because they are unhealthy b) they are neutered and descented WAY to early, which is what makes them unhealthy to begin with. Their lifespan is also decreased by this as well. If you have a Marshall Farms ferret you are lucky if it lives for more than 5 or 6 years. I had a ferret from a breeder and she lasted 10 1/2 years which is almost unheard of.

OK...so to really answer your question...a Marshall Farms male ferret will probably reach 2-4 lbs. by maturity. Females will usually be 1-2 lbs. at best. If you got your ferret from a breeder who practices proper neutering practices your male ferret could reach 5 lbs. and your female at least 3.

As long as you are feeding your ferret a good quality ferret food and offering him/her a "high calorie vitamin" such as FerriVite you are doing everything you can to assure his or her health.

Your ferret is still a baby. He is probably around 6 oz. thats normal for babies. My males are between 2lbs and 4oz and 3lbs. Take him to the vet for shots and talk ask your vet questions that you need answered. Also get ferrets for dummies it's a great book.

Depends on how much meat you feed him. Ferrets in the wild eat alot of mice, and small birds. Give him plenty of room to exercise, too. Mine has free run of the house. But, beware, they chew what they like, and things can get caught in their throat and intestines! My ferret is muscular! He like to nibble chicken!
