Even with RBI intervention and strong demand for dollar we have seen the rupee appreciate by Rs.1 to 2 to a dollar in the last one -two years. So over the next 5 years, with US economy likely to be on a go slow mode and India growing at 8+%, it is reasonable to expect the Rupee to be Rs.38 per dollar in the next 5 to 7 years.

Looking at the previous few days, and the non-intervention by the RBI (surprise, surprise...!), u could say it is going to rise steadily, till the Reserve Bank guys think its overheated
In the long term, as long as the Indian Economy is strong, it could break the Rs. 40/$ mark

I think it will hover around 1$ equal to Rs 50. Apperciation of Rs is good for importers and bad for exporters. For our economy rise in in export is desirable hence depreciation of Rs is in our favour.
