Depends what your needs and time available are.
I am a cat person. My logic is:
1. I am an apartment dweller. I need animals that do not require being walked.
2. I work long hours upon occassion. I do not have to run home, cats take care of themselves. I leave out food and water and a clean litter box that I only have to do once a day.
3. My cats are fully indoors. This provides yet another benefit - I do not have to fight flea infestation. Since they do not go out, they do not get fleas.
4. I appreciate the fact they like to curl up and purr. That is one of the best sounds in the world.
5. I like my living foot warmers sleeping on the end of the bed when weather is cold.

I was always more for a dog than a cat. (I have 4 dogs) but I recently rescued a kitten. I love this little kitten, she is the cutest thing. She is only about 6 weeks and already litter trained. She is no problem at all. I like both cats & dogs. It really just depends, dogs are a lot harder to care for.

I think it totally depends on a person's lifestyle and living arrangements. If you're more active outdoors, live in a house, and have a flexible schedule a dog would work fine. Dogs are amazing companions.
Cats are much easier to accomodate and theyll adapt to almost any circumstance. I work long hours, six days a week, and live alone so cats are the perfect pet for me. It wouldn't be fair for me to have a dog. They still run up to greet me when i get home (usually waiting in the window for my car to pull up) and cuddle up to me when i sit or lay down. I do miss having a dog, but that wouldn't be fair to the dog right now.

For dinner? Seriously, I think preference is learned, or choices are made due to circumstances regarding animal friends. I own a house with a completely fenced-in back garden, so I can have a dog (or two). I lived in an apartment 15 years ago and had a kitten - who is now a cat who lives with the two dogs. I don't "prefer" either, I love them all for their individual selves.

When younger, a cat when you consider that of the attachment and behaviour of the cat. The subsequent is a person when you consider that they desire to spend the relaxation in their lifestyles in marital bliss, you realize, such as you see on television, The guy cares and does for you, brings you roses and upkeep matters across the condominium. A guy who kisses you and support with chores and kids. After discovering what guys are particularly like, ladies start to choose puppies to maintain the guys away so the ladies can play.

cat, don't have to mess with taking them outside. My cat fully trained to her litter box, much easier!
