The link is for the province of Ontario (Occupational Health and Safety); however, I'm pretty sure the divisions are consistent in other provinces/territories as well.

Basically, some types of jobs have a minimum age of 14 while others require a minimum of 18 (and the ages in between).

I hired a 14 year old, she needed a note from her parents, giving their permission for her to work.
