On the back of Irelands success in the Windies, it has been brought in to question whether the ICC is dealing with the lesser nations in the right way.
However, despite the success of the team from the Emerald Isle, the other associate members (Netherlands, Bermuda, Scotland, Canada, Kenya*, Zimbabwe) have had a pretty tough time out there, having sixes smashed over the boundary from their bowling at every opportunity and struggling to get past 150-200 with the bat.
So, is the International Cricket Council doing all they can to promote cricket in these countries and, possibly, even trying to work enough to get these teams up to Test playing status?
I know they are working with tournaments such as the ICC Intercontinental Cup, ICC Trophy and ICC World Cricket League, but is this enough to let cricket grow?

The ICC is doing far too much with non traditional cricket nations and it is a waste of time and money. Not one non traditional country has a proper professional game or any expectation that there will be one. Teams like Ireland or Canada rely a lot on imported players form traditional countries like Australia or the West Indies. Kenya (semi finalists last time) are the only team outside of the Test nations with a chance of making the grade - and that looks unlikely. The ICC should realise that cricket will always be confined exclusively to those countries that were once part of the British Empire and which have solid cricket traditions. It pleases the ICC's vanity to think that they have some crusade to spread cricket to places like Denmark or Canada (etc. etc. etc.) - but the reality is that they are wasting their time and our money!

I've really enjoyed this world cup, particularly with the involvement of the "smaller teams". I think that the ICC are doing enough for cricket. They have given the tournament to W.Indies, to try and kick-start cricket in the Caribbean, even though it will not be a financial success like previous world cups. A great decision, I think.

Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and Kenya have all shown that they can compete. It's not possible to rate Zimbabwe due to all the political problems of the country. They have lost a whole team, including the Flower brothers.

There are so many sixes being hit because the grounds are so small. One of the grounds is the smallest international ground that world cup cricket has ever been played on.

Apparently, according to latest reports, the ICC are far too busy making fortunes by working with the gambling mafia.
