Was wrestling better in the 80's or was it that I was watching it through the eyes of a child?

every era has its moments and yes 80s produced great legends such as Hogan, flair and many more
and back then the focus was generally on in ring action rather then the entertainment thats why we didnt had too many characters and gimmicks like we have now
wrestling was as scripted back then as its now the only difference is that performers then were slightly better then todays because the focus of today's pro wrestling is primarity entertainment and even though in the 80s wrestling was also entertainment but the more focus on the in ring action made it look very competitive and real
so i think its just a matter of time ,todays wrestling is so different from past because back then we didnt have internet and all our news came from the tv shows now every other major news break is leaked on internet and thats why lot of people dont find todays pro wrestling interesting
and time changes and things will change

Well it was fun in the 80's Im not sure if it was the wrestling or watching my dad and grandpa as they thought they were in the ring doing the fightin, cause by the time the match was over they were almost falling out of their chairs .

you know I don't know if you will get a actual answer, that is of someone's opinion. But I would agree with you.I am a man of the 80's and I loved it then ya know all the superstars, today's are very talented but just didn't have the attitudes of the guys from our era.Guys you knew were bad and guys you knew were good,I can't tell anymore.I always look back about every monday night and think of how it was then and what it is now.I love the buisness, love the talent but not like I did then

i think alot of wrestlings icons grew to popularity in the 80s, but the attitude era was the best time for the WWF/E, also with the monday night war with WCW(the good days, u had choices)

In the 80's the characters where much more extravagant then they are now, there were actually characters, now it's just men! Then the took the time to get in costumes and become another persona, they had cool nick names, now it's just plain looking guys, using their plain old boring name!I loved how it used to be,the better thing about now is the story lines but that's about it!!

Maybe it was a little bit of both. However, 80's wrestling did have more memorable characters.

1980's, Wrestling was believable, the moves were real, you could do them in the backyard so it was realistic. No one ever did corkscrew plancha off the corner of the chain-link fence (our version of the cage). but we did the suplex, superplex, body slam, ddt, arm drag, and the submission holds. We could put on our own dramatic matches in the backyard.

No it is still better now. I have seen old videos of the eighties when hulk hogan and tito santana and Davey Boy Smith the British Bulldog (may his beautiful soul rest in the heavens)

but it is still fun to me to watch them

I think the best time period in the WWE was the attitude era.
