Before you medicate your fish for something he may not have, read this:
Is your goldfish a chocolate oranda? These have a "warty" growth on their heads called a wen. White spots in this area area normal - it's a point of new growth. (It can also be a bit of food trapped between lobes of the wen that have a "fungus". If they're in the bumpy area on top of the head, that's okay - nothing to worry about. If they're on the side of the head on the gill coverings, it may be that you have a boy! Males get pimple like tubercules when they're ready to spawn.
If the spots are anywhere else, it could be ich or velvet (in the beginning stages). Treat with Quick Cure (available at WalMart, pet stores for about $2), or any medication with malachite green.

White Spot - Ich (Ichthyopthirius)
This is the most common problem in a tank.
Tiny pin head sized white spots on the head, body and fins.
Left un treated the fish will almost always die.
Lots of treatments available at the pet store.
Usually ich is caused by stress or shock, banging on the tank, transporting the fish in and out of the tank.
Easily treated.

It is probably A form of "ICK". You can treat it with an ick treatment that you get from your local pet store. Make sure you do frequent water changes for the next couple of weeks. It should go away as long as you treat it. If not, your fish will almost definately die.

That depends. It could be ick as others have said, but it's possible it's just breeding tubecules as well. If the spots are on his gill plates and the front of his fins and no where else that's what it is. If you see any spots anywhere else on the fish it would be ick and you need to treat with ick medication from any pet shop.

It is called ICK. Go to Petsmart, and get some solution that is formulated to take care of ICK. NO worries, but you must take care of it. It will help your fish as well as your tank. ICK is basically a bacteria.

OK Ick is what every one is saying, but if your gold fish has a wen one of those bubble heads then it's nothing it's just like toe jam, dosen't harm him and dosen't help him it does nothing. But it he doesn't then i think you have a problem. If the spots are and the grain of salt size wait alittle about one day if you notice they are spreading then put some ick medication,(you don't have to it helps) But most importanly raise the water temp to about 76 i know thats high but it should fry those llittle suckers. If it dosen't spred raise the temp alittle just to be sure like up to 72. If it dosen't spread i wouldn't worry either depends if your like me, if you look real close at your fish you can always see spots, it's his skin, but i would raise the temp just to be sure. :0 good luck
